programs/projects

In addition to the
wide variety of member activities , LASC members participate in numerous
programs/projects throughout the year which affect the quality of life
for Lake Auman and its habitat including programs aimed at maintaining
the fish population, providing an environment that encourages their
growth, projects that help keep the lake clean and healthy, physical
improvements at Johnson Point and water safety programs including maintenance
of the buoys.

Earlier this year
a fire destroyed a portion of the Pine Island bulkhead and before inclement
weather set in, repair was needed. In mid-October, a Lake Auman Sports
Club work crew headed out to the Island to replace the damaged portion
of the island's bulkhead.
The project took a lot of hard work and over six hours to complete. Lumber and equipment were required: generator, chain saw, shovels, rakes, crow bars, hammers, circular saws, etc. and were moved by boat to the Island. Brush was cleared and the old bulkhead was removed before rehabilitation could start. Following preliminary clearing, posts were replaced, new stiffeners and bulkhead boards were added. Some of the team even worked in the water
Our effective and efficient work team included: Bob Caldara, Denny Penrod, Charlie Flinchum, Don Smith, Jim Johnson, Robert Wiestling, Bill LeGars and Dick Williams. Special thanks is due Charlie Flinchum for his time and expertise ensuring that we had all the right equipment (mostly supplied by Bill LeGars) and materials to do the job correctly.
We also appreciate
Jane Sessler who photographed the project. Her pictures have been posted
in the "Photo Gallery" on the new SLW community website: http://www.sevenlakeswest.org/ Be
sure to check them out.
A great job by everyone and thanks to all!
